Since the Town Plan launch day in April, we have been working hard to put together a survey which includes all the topics we identified and reflects the aspects which you told us are most important to you. The survey for the Verwood & Three Legged Cross Town Plan is now available online and will be delivered to every household soon.

We have tried to make the survey as comprehensive as possible so that we are able to capture what our community needs and wants. It will only take about 20 minutes, not long to help to shape the future of our town.

We would like everyone to respond, either as a household or as individuals (aged 13+). It would really help us if you complete the survey online. This saves us the task of entering your data ourselves and allows us to spend the time analysing your responses. If you do not have access to a computer, you are welcome to copy the paper survey if members of your household would like to respond as individuals.  However you respond the closing date is 31st January 2011.

All responses will be anonymous and the results will be used to write a document which describes our view of how we wish to see our area in the future and a description of how we will get there. Although publication of the Town Plan document in 2011 is a major milestone, it’s just the start. Projects and actions arising from the plan will then be started and the plan used to demonstrate to other agencies and potential sources of funding that we are serious, committed and able to succeed if they fund or support our projects. The plan will also be distributed to East Dorset District Council, Dorset County Council and other service providers as an evidenced record of our views to influence their own future plans.

East Dorset District Council are currently consulting on their Core Strategy, which includes potential development options around our area to be included in a new plan to manage the development and growth of the district up to 2027. The Core Strategy will replace the current Local Plan, which ends in 2011.

We want to ensure that the Core Strategy consultation captures as many people’s opinions as possible from Verwood and Three Legged Cross and we have incorporated some specific questions on the Core Strategy proposals.  We will be providing raw data in these areas from our survey, so that the District Council knows your views on the Core Strategy proposals before the full publication of the Town Plan. You can respond to both our survey and the Core Strategy consultation, but remember that the Town Plan will reflect the specific views of Verwood & Three Legged Cross whereas the Core Strategy will be District wide.

The Town Plan will only be as good as the input it gets from YOU – so please respond to our survey now to make sure the Town Plan reflects YOUR views.
